For people working in Saudi Arabia

What your Saudi salary is really worth back home

A riyal figure on a contract tells you very little on its own. Enter your monthly pay and we turn it into three numbers you can actually use.

SAR

Basic salary plus allowances, as paid each month.

Your home country
  1. Its value at home

Your pay converted into your home currency at today's exchange rate.

  2. The salary a job at home would need to pay

Saudi Arabia takes no income tax from salaries. At home, tax and compulsory contributions come off first, so a job there has to pay more to leave you with the same money.

  3. How it compares with the minimum wage

How many months of your country's minimum wage one month of your Saudi pay is worth.

Why it matters

Use it to weigh up a job offer, check whether a pay rise is worth it, plan what to send home, or decide when going back makes sense. Every figure compares the same thing: money in your hand after deductions, in your own currency.

How the calculation works

  1. Your monthly pay is converted from riyals at the day's market exchange rate.
  2. We apply the income tax and compulsory employee contributions in force in your home country for the current tax year.
  3. We find the lowest salary before deductions that leaves you the same take-home pay, and compare your pay with the official minimum wage.
  4. Money transfer services usually pay 1 to 3% below the market rate, so what your family receives may be a little lower.
